Random patients from each dentist were asked to complete the questionnaire and then we audit them to look at any areas we need to address to improve our services to our patients. The audit showed very positive results highlighting that we are maintaining and in some areas raising our standards that we provide to our patients. It also showed some areas which we needed to address to help raise the percentages gained in all areas audited.
Some comments were made on the completed questionnaires. The comments were:

We will be discussing the audit within our next staff meeting and reviewing the comments made and whether there are any changes we can implement as a result of these.
One very positive result on this audit was that 100% of the patients who completed the audit said they were seen early or on time for their appointment.
The areas that we will be addressing are:
- Only 63% of the patients who had completed the questionnaire said that they had been given advice about caring for their oral health. This percentage has dropped from 71% on the previous audit. We will discuss this within our next staff meeting to look at how we can address this. We will discuss trying to get more patients referred to the oral health sessions which we hold on a regular basis. We will also look at trying to get patients seen for oral health advice when they attend for their examination appointments, if suitably qualified staff are available to offer this advice. We will also discuss that all patients should be offered oral health advice at their examination appointment by their dentist if it is needed.
-
The percentage of patients who said they knew who to contact if they had a dental emergency outside normal surgery hours had risen slightly on this audit to 50% from 46% on the previous audit. We will discuss this within our next staff meeting to try to address how we can make more patient aware of these contact details and whether we need to display these details more prominently for patients to see. The information needed for patients if they have a dental emergency out of normal surgery hours are:
For patients in North Lincolnshire for emergencies for weekends and bank holidays Tel: 01724 858969 and for patients out of North Lincolnshire Tel: NHS 111 to get the appropriate number for their area.
I would like to thank all patients for their help in completing these questionnaires in order to help us audit the services we provide to our patients to help us maintain and also improve standards we provide to them.
