Random patients from each dentist were asked to complete the questionnaire and then they were audited to look at any areas we need to address to improve our services to our patients.
The audit showed mainly positive results highlighting that standards that we provide to our patients are mainly being maintained and improved in some areas.
It also highlighted two areas which we need to address to make sure we maintain or improve standards in these areas. It also showed improved or maintained percentages in some areas.
Some comments were made on the completed audits. The comments were:
“Always a pleasant visit from dentist, nurses and staff”
“The practice is first class!!”
“I’ve always had a good service”
“Excellent service, throughout my visit, I feel they do an amazing job. The dentist herself is brilliant at what she does, and customer service satisfaction is also key in this practice”
The areas that we are addressing are:
- Only 48% of the patients who completed the questionnaire said they had been given advice about caring for their oral health. This percentage has dropped from the previous audit. We will discuss this in our next staff meeting and make sure all dentists give their patients oral health advice within their examination appointment.
- 67% of the patients who completed the questionnaire said they would know who to contact if they had a dental emergency outside normal surgery hours. This percentage has dropped from 71% on the previous audit. We will discuss this in our next staff meeting but this information is already displayed in both our waiting rooms, in our practice leaflet, in the front window of the practice, on our answerphone and on our website for patients who need this information.
I would like to thank all the patients who took the time to complete the questionnaires for us to help audit the services we provide our patients. This helps us look at whether standards are being maintained and also for us to address any areas we need to look at improving to improve the standards we provide to our patients.
